Subject: [Q-R] Cemetery Report: April 3, 2008 " I found WEE WEE "
Date: Tue, 8 Apr 2008 19:22:20 EDT

Today was kind of my test trip to see how long I last. First time for 2008.
Surprised myself, with the help of 3 pain pills while I was out, made for a
very good day.
Left the garage at 9:09am, no hurry today as I'm going to local cemeteries
that I haven't done or needed to be finished from a previous time and was also
waiting for it to get above the freezing mark. When I first got up it was
18F and now 30F, close enough as its supposed to be sunny the rest of the day.
I got a whole 4 hours sleep last night so it could be a rough day.
Here's the route you can follow on a map but not the way I went. This way
goes through a very rough part of Syracuse south side and as my car isn't armour
plated, I actually went the log way around.
So Rt. 57 south to Rt 81 south to Rt 173 west to a left turn on Valley Drive
about 6 blocks to Onondaga Valley Cemetery and its a very large cemetery
which I doubt I'll finish today.
Arrived at 9:45am after stopping to get a couple coffees to bring here to
keep me thawed out. Its 30F now and the sun is out.
This "Portal to Heaven or hell" was established in 1806. I'm starting at the
new end and will work towards the old section.

coffee just about every day towards the end as he couldn't get out anymore.
Watched him die in the hospital. He had no lungs left and he didn't smoke. He
was cremated and I had to laugh the day of the funeral, as they took the
hearse and put his little box of ashes on the floor, passenger side. I picked Joe
up and its surprising how little weight there is to the whole container and
its contents. That was the only time I had ever been in this cemetery before
today and didn't realize how large it was. .......................I brought a
flower and put it on his grave.) (P)

Eugene
M...........................................................................................apparently this guy wanted some company, I guess no
one has dropped into see him since 1934. He isn't much of a conversationalist
nor did he offer me coffee. Here's the good part...........I'm up to my butt
in Butman. Eugene M. Butman 1912-1934. Funny, went down softly
kind of rocking back and forth. What a hole I made. Just like in the past
though, up rushes that old musty rotted wood smell while I'm heading down along
with earth and dried up grass. 3-(P). The hole got bigger as usual , as I
tried getting out. More kept caving in. Finally left Eugene. Good way to start
the season in cemeteries................................Another let
down........................ :)

Its almost 6:00pm now and I'm running out of steam. Funny, I'm seeing those
bugs that hang around in those clouds. Don't bother 'ya, just hang around with
hundreds of other bugs................thought it kind of early to see them.
Come to think of it, I have had enough for today and will call it quits.
I picked up 74 flags and 17 flower arrangements.
Walked a total of 7.5 miles for the day. 4 pain pills for the day.
I did notice about 6 brass military markers missing from the back side of
headstones. So the vandals have been here also at some time.
Seems to be a well organized cemetery so far.
I am guessing I finished 50-60% of this "Kibbutz Fields", I'll find out when
I come back to finish soon.
It was a fantastic day.
Another great day with the dead.............................

Best
Bill
