Subject: [Q-R] Translation help please
Date: Sat, 16 Feb 2008 10:21:57 -0500
This is my second request for translation help. I appreciate the responses I
received on my first request and hope someone can help me on this one. I am
picking up words here and there but still have a problem with numbers
especially since the online translation sites don't offer Canadian French
for an option. Wish my Mere had spoken to me in French when she lived with
us. (Does anyone know of a site that offers French Canadian phrases and
dates used in vital records, I would be happy to use that!)
This is a birth record in the Drouin for Francois Chartier, in L'Acadie in
the year 1816. On Ancestry it is page 29 of 42. I know the year because it
is written numerically at the beginning of the year and I know Octobre
because I have learned the months but don't know the day of the month. I
think it might be 5 but not sure if it could be 15 or 25 also.
Also there is some notation under the name in the first column which may not
be important but I am curious as to what it says.
To those of you who can speak and read the language would a standard French
English Dictionary work?
Thank you to anyone willing to help,
