Hello,

I thought I had joined this List before, but I might have forgotten to. I
did check the archives and I see the KERR name has been mentioned many
times. * While looking at the archives, I noticed it is a very active
List.

For this morning, I'd just like to offer a summary of the family-group
which my ancestors belonged to. The following people arrived in Canada
~1823-1824, and they were forced to settle in Argenteuil County, Prov. of
Quebec. They settled in what is now known as the "former Township of
Gore." (There is a List for that !)

William and Mary (KERR) HENDERSON
Samuel and Catherine (?) HENDERSON
Patrick and Elizabeth (KERR?) KERR
Miss Elizabeth KERR (marr. in Canada to Levi MILLLER)
John and Ann (HENDERSON) KERR

Robert KERR and Elizabeth HENDERSON (prob. cousins) were born there in 1827,
and they married there ~1850. They were my gr-gr-grandparents, and their
first child, William KERR, was my gr-grandfather. They had 5 children.
And, in the 1860's they moved to Compton County.

In the 1870's, William and his sister, Mary, migrated down to Massachusetts.
The parents and their youngest siblings, Robert and Joseph, came down ~1890.
I cannot find out what happened to the sister, Hannah Jane, as an adult.

There is a data base on-line which offers many of the descendants of this
family-group. The couples all had many children, so they had many
descendants.

There was also a Dawson KERR who might have been related to them. And,
there were KERR families in Compton County which might have been related to
them.

The family-group came from County Sligo, Ireland, and in Canada were
referred to as "Irishmen." They were born in Ireland in the 1780 to 1805
timeframe. No one can find out who their parents were !! And, I was
told last week that "it would be near impossible" to find that information
! Thus, we also do not know about any siblings they had in Ireland, and
whether those siblings also came to either Canada or the U.S.

That's all I'll say for this weekend !

(I've belonged to the Lists for about 6 years, and probably belong to over
100 Lists right now.)

* I just heard from someone who is looking for any information about a
Harlow KERR in the mid-1800's.
