Four years ago one of my sons, a Fleet Marine Combat Medical Corpsman, came
home to visit. On the Fourth of July he put on his uniform with all his
ribbons and pins and whatever else he had to put on his dress uniform, and
we went out to eat in Gloucester, MA where, for the Fourth of July, they
line the street along the waterfront with US flags. He gave me an extra set
of dog tags that had a slight misprint and asked me to wear them until he
got home. We returned to Boston, and he walked to Paul Revere's house and
back. Then he rejoined his unit.

He came home this year-- safe and sound. He is a good boy, brave and
generous with all he has-- his life.
