Le vingt-six février mil huit cent vingt sept, Nous soussigné Ptre curé de la paroisse de Becancour, après la publication de trois bans, faite consecutivement au prône de la Messe Paroissaiale du dit lieu, les Dimanches onze, dix huit et vingt cinq du courant, ainsi que dans la Paroisse de Gentilly, comme il paroit par le certificat de M. Couétin, curé du lieu en datte d'hier, des promesses de mariage entre Alexis Rivard dit Lavigne, cultivateur, fils mineur de Joseph Rivard dit Lavigne et de Genevieve Michel de la ditte paroisse de Gentilly d'une part, et Cécile Bourbeau-Verville, fille mineure de Charles Bourbeau-Verville, cultivateur, et de Josephte Boisvert de la ditte Paroisse de Becancour d'autre part, sans qu'il se soit trouvé à notre connaissance aucun empèchement canonique ou civil ni opposition, ayant reçu le consentement mutuel des susdits, Nous les avons conjoints en mariage et leur avons donné la benediction nuptiale en presence et du consentement d'Alexis Verville, pere de l'epouse, François et Pierre Verville, ses oncles et plusieurs autres parents et amis tant du côté de l'Epoux que de celui de l'épouse lesquels ont déclaré ne savoir signer, de ce enquis. Les époux ont signé avec nous. Lecture faite, suiv. l'ord.

On the twenty-sixth of February, Eighteen Hundred Twenty Seven, We, undersigned, Priest-pastor of the Parish of Becancour, after the publication of three banns done consecutively at the prone of the Parish Mass of the said place on Sunday the eleventh, eighteenth and twenty fifth current, and also in the Parish of Gentilly, as it appears according to the certificate of Fr. Couetin, pastor of that place, dated yesterday, of the promises of marriage between Alexis Rivard dit Lavigne, farmer, minor son of Joseph Rivard dit Lavigne and Genevieve Michel, of the said Parish of Gentilly, on the first part; and Cecile Bourbeau-Vervile, minor daughter of Charles Bourbeau-Verville, famer, and Josephte Boisvert of the said Parish of Becancour on the other part, without finding, to the best of our knowledge, any canonical impediment or opposition, having received the mutual consent of the aforemention, We joined them in marriage and gave the the nuptial blessing, in the presence and with the consent of Alexis Verville, father of the bride, François and Pierre Verville, her uncles, and several other family members and friends both on the groom's and the bride's side, who declared they were unable to sign, having inquired about this. The spouses signed along with us. The reading was done, according to the statute.

Now this presents a problem.....if Alexis married in 1827, this couple of Francois & Marguerite DESHAIES can not be his parents! Further research needed, a look up of Alexis' marriage is in order once again.
