Hello Denise...

I don't know how you pronounce your name but here is the closest
way to say it in French.

First... say the "UH" sound common to Americans (Canadians use EH)

LUH TOE (rhymes with potato or tomato)

According to canada411.ca, no one in Canada spells your
family name without a "t" on the end and that includes
Catholics and Protestants except for one family that spells
it as LANCTEAU.

Also.... No one here spells it LONCTO either.
Everyone uses an "a" for the 2nd letter.

Many LANCTOTs that moved to the US dropped the T on the
end because Anglophones tend to want to say the name to
rhyme with PLOT or BOUGHT but in French the T is silent.
It is there to tell us how the O is to be pronounced.

In my research which is very limited in your family name I
only have 900+ LANCTOT marriages and 2 LANCTEAU
marriages. I have 1 LANQUETOT marriage (old way of
spelling name). I have no LANCTOs or LONGTOs. Except
for 6, all the recorded marriages occured in Quebec.

BTW.... LANCTOT and LANCTEAU are pronouced the same way.
