Subject: [Q-R] Durocher Marriage/Baptism Query
Date: Thu, 14 Dec 2006 08:40:30 -0800 (PST)
Happy Holidays Listers,
I am searching for a marriage record for Leon DuRocher and Sophie (or Sophia) DeSery or (DeLery) and a baptismal record for his son Joseph or any other children of Leon and Sophie.
According to his son Joseph's death certificate, Joseph was born in Montreal, Quebec approx. 1836. Joseph supposedly immigrated to the US around 1853 and eventually married Marie Robichaud, also from Quebec.
I was able to find Joseph's father, Leon Durocher (at least I hope this is the correct Leon!) in the online Montreal city directory living on Wolfe Street for the 1849-1854 directory years, on St. Dominique in 1844-1846 and on Mountain in 1843. Since I have not been able to locate him in the US, I can only assume that he died before Joseph immigrated. May I ask...IF Leon did die at this location, what would be a likely burial location? I have not found him in Notre Dame nor Mount Royale cemeteries. Are there any other Catholic cemeteries relatively close?
If anyone has any information on this family, or could find the records I requested, I would be extremely grateful for anything you can help me with.
Thank you so very much.
