Subject: Marriage look-up please re - a Martin Joseph Slattery & Emma ?????
Date: Wed, 5 Apr 2006 01:36:17 -0400
Looking for a Montreal marriage of a Martin Joseph Slattery to an Emma ????? - (This spelling of her last name may be incorrect) -possibly in the mid 1930's to mid 1940's.
M.J. Slattery - b. Mar 15, 1893 / bapt. 19th - F16v B#64 - St. Ann's Pt. St. Charles, Mtl.
- d. Aug 22, 1956 & br'd. Aug 25, 1956 - NDdesN Plot, # 00547
M.J.'s Parents - John Slattery (Jr.) (a Blacksmith) & Mary Ann Quinn both of St. Ann's Parish.
Main problem - don't know if "Emma ?????" was English or French - if latter case, don't know where to look for the marriage - i.e French, or English Parish. (The same question would apply to her death & burial). Also, am quite certain - but not positive that, - although, as well as I can remember -, they seem to have lived and died in Montreal. There is no Martin Slattery listed in NDdesN cemetery with a spouse's name of "Emma". Can't look him up under Emma's "last name". She appears not be be buried in the same plot as he is. Even when I do a search under a first name - "Emma", I can't find any spousal reference to a John Slattery.
One other question:- Is "Emma" actually a recognized proper name, or is Emma a "pet name" for something else, - like Kitty or Katie for Katherine.
Any/all help, or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank ye kindly, - Murray Quinn
