Hi All,
I know from having to copyright a book, this is how it is, Gary is correct,
data cannot be copyrighted. It is the format that is used in the manuscript,
book, magazine, etc. that is. Data is public information, census, cemeteries
etc. and if someone wants to share what data they have collected from other
sources, that is legal. What isn't legal, (rather morally or otherwise,) is
the copying and sharing of someone's else work. Copying their format, their
histories, stories or otherwise their personal idea's or outline in how to
display their work. For example. no one can legally get a copy of my book
and go to the Kinko's or other such place and copy the book for their own
personal use, or to share with anyone else. If they want buy a copy and then
take the time and write out all the information into another form/book, that
is perfectly legal. Just wanted to help clear the "discussion" somewhat.

P.S. With that said, Morally "I" would not share information someone else
has spent time obtaining and then been willing to help me by sharing it with
me, without of course finding out if they would mind. (This is my personal
observation, Best Bill has helped many on this list and I believe deserves
at least that much respect. I personally wouldn't even ask.)
