Hi folks, one upon a time in a land far far away (Nicolet,Quebec,
Canada) a boy Paul(in) Provencher aka Provoncha was born..23 June,
1823, he grew up and moved to Vermont, then upstate NY. He married n
raised a family. Right next to him in North Hudson/Schroon Lake, Essex
NY, lived a William or Sylvestre Provoncha, the families interacted,
and eventually intermarried, both sides "knew" they were related. I've
always assumed that Paul n William/Sylvester were brothers, but
nothing seemed to fit. Now I start guessing.
Paul had a younger brother Severe Provencher b 11 Jan 1828 Nicolet, he
married a Louise Goulet and had a son Sylvestre. My William/Sylvestre
married a Louise Bullard, dau of Benjamin Bullard and had a son
Sylvester..(Blown up in a Ticonderoga mill explosion)
Sooo
In Quebecois terms, could Severe become Sylvestre, would the William
be a reasonable middle name? Does Goulet match up someway with
Bullard? Have I finally lost my mind? :-)
Regards, Uncle
