Birthday Catherine Parr Traill 1802-1899
writer, born on this day at London, England in 1802; dies at age 97 in
Lakefield, Ontario Aug 29, 1899. Traill came from a family of writers, and was the
sister of Susannah Moodie. She wrote rich descriptions of frontier life and
nature in pioneer Ontario.
