Hi,
A ''dit'' name adds to a surname.
A surname has no gender
So it is always written as ''dit'"..
In many intances the ''dit'' name became the new surname.
My wife's family was originally: Quemeneur then
Quemeneur ''dit'' Laflamme and now she is Laflamme only.
Des.
