The burial certificate dated 1655-09-18 at the PRDH for my ancestor, Nicolas PINEL, includes this:

"MORT DE BLESSURES D'UNE ARQUEBUSE"

I can translate the died of wounds part -- but who or what's d'une arquebuse????
