Maureen Breton Lambert

LAMBERT, Maureen Breton Maureen Breton Lambert, 70, formerly of Old
Saybrook, and most recently a resident of Naples, FL and Chatham, MA, died
Monday, (April 5, 2004) at the Hospice of Naples, while at her winter
residence after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Maureen was born
on December 31, 1933, daughter of the late Oliver and Mary (O'Neil) LaPlace.
She was raised in Essex and attended Pratt High School. She also attended
Mount Saint Joseph Academy in West Hartford and graduated from Willimantic
State Teachers College (ECSU), with a degree in elementary education. Prior
to her retirement she was an educator with the Essex and Old Saybrook
Schools, spending the majority of her 25 years at the Kathleen Goodwin
School in Old Saybrook. Maureen was a communicant of the St. Johns Parish in
Old Saybrook for 35 years. She was an avid gardener, loved boating and
living by the water, and attending classical music concerts. Maureen's
favorite pastime was spending time with her family and many friends. Maureen
leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Kenneth (Rusty) Lambert. They
enjoyed winters together in Naples, FL, and summers on the Cape relaxing
with family and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband of 40
years, Robert A. Breton. Before retiring to the Cape, Mrs. Lambert was an
active member of the Old saybrook Garden Club, leading the "Light Up Old
Saybrook" Main Street project. She was also active in the Chatham Garden
Club. She is survived by her two daughters, son-in-law, and grandchildren,
Ann and Andre Roussel and their children, Bret and Taryn Roussel of Ivoryton
and Lynn Breton-Jermainne and her children, Brittany and Abby Jermainne of
Westbrook. She is also survived by her step children and their families,
Wendy and Eric Dwinells, and their daughter Emma of Bolton, MA; Kevin
Lambert of Framingham, MA, Kelly and Bob Rucker and their children of Alisio
Viejo, CA. She was predeceased by a brother, Neil Joseph LaPlace. She will
be fondly remembered by her family and all who knew her. The funeral
procession will leave the Robinson,Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main
St., Centerbrook, on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian
Burial, 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect St., Essex.
Burial will follow in RiverView Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral
home on Monday, from 4-7 p.m. Contributions in her memory may be made to
Hospice of Naples, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105-3847.
