Aug. 26, 1911 -- March 4, 2004
WAUREGAN -- Victor H. Joly, 92, of First Street Extension died Thursday at
the Westview Nursing Care and Rehabilitation Center in Attawaugan. He was
the husband of the former Anita Billington. They were married May 30, 1933.
Mrs. Joly died January 19, 1989. He was born in Killingly, August 26, 1911,
a son of the late Ulrich and Delia (Perreault) Joly. Mr. Joly attended local
schools including St. James School. Following his education he went to work
as a weaver for the former Powdrell and Alexander Corporation in Danielson.
Mr. Joly also worked for several other businesses in the area including
Hillandale Farm in Brooklyn, Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford,
and a local paving company. He retired in 1980. He was a communicant of St.
James Church in Danielson, a charter member of the Danielson Lodge of Elks
#1706. He also enjoyed bowling and shooting pool. He is survived by two
sons, Richard Joly of Wauregan and Ronald Joly of Brooklyn; 11
grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Leonide Hubert of
Dayville, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a
great-great-grandson, Curtis J. Boucher, and a brother, Hector Joly. Funeral
from the Gagnon-Costello Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds Street, Danielson,
Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church,
Danielson, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family and
friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 8:30-9:15 a.m. The family
asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made in his memory to CT
Children's Medical Center, Cardiac Division, 282 Washington St., Hartford,
CT 06106, or to Hospice of N.E. Connecticut, P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
