Napoleon J. Rivers

LOWELL - Napoleon J. Rivers, 78, a lifelong Lowell resident and retired
dietary aide, died yesterday, Nov. 19, at Saints Memorial Medical Center in
Lowell after a short illness. He was the husband of Doris A. (Pothier)
Rivers, who died in May of 1997.
He was born in Lowell on March 17, 1925, son of the late Napoleon and Lumina
(Bourget) Rivers.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Rivers was employed as a dietary aide at
Lowell's former St. John's Hospital for eight years. He also worked with
Joan Fabrics in Lowell as a winder for several years.
He was a communicant of the former St. Jean Baptiste Church and recently
attended Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, both in Lowell..
He is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Rita and Marty Cole of
Portsmouth, N.H., and Helen and Joseph Conroy of Lowell; a son, Harvey J.
Rivers of Lowell; a brother, Raymond Rivers of Atlanta; four grandchildren,
Kevin, Christopher, and Robin Cole, all residing in New Hampshire, and
Jennifer Conroy of Lowell. He also leave his godchild, Helen Metherall of
Lowell; a brother-in-law, Albert Pothier of Lowell; a close friend, Gary
Bellegarde of Lowell; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Mr. Rivers was also the brother of the late Doris Platt, Harvey Rivers, and
Louise Christian and the grandfather of the late Brian Cole.
