Selma,
I know the feeling. I too live in FL and if I weren't in college I would not
have been able to purchase a French Dictionary. You will only find Spanish,
Portuguese & English Dictionaries around here. I was finally able to purchase
one at my college campus bookstore. Neither Borders or Barnes & Noble even carry
them. I was told that "they don't offer French in the local school system so,
there is no need for them in the stores." In fact I tried to take French for
my college language requirement but I would have had to go the Belle Glade
campus of Palm Beach Community College some 80 miles away round trip twice a week
for 32 weeks and the French instructor is Haitian, so we are not even talking
about North American French but rather Haitian French and although they are
similar they are not the same.
