July 27, 1906 -- Aug. 9, 2003




GRISWOLD -- GRISWOLD -- Edward Eugene Florence, 97, of Tift St. Jewett City,
died Saturday evening at the Haven Health Care Center in Jewett City.
He was born July 27, 1906 in Lisbon son of the late John and Mary (Legary)
Florence.
On July 27, 1931 he was married to Loretta Paquette.
Mr. Florence worked for the State of Ct. DOT as a crew leader for Signs &
Markings.
Mr. Florence was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Jewett City. He
belonged to the Sprague Rod & Gun Club, the Ocean Rod & Gun and with his
great interest in antiques he operated a stand at the Slater Mill Flea
Market in Jewett City.
Survivors include a son Henry and his wife Pauline Florence of Voluntown, a
daughter Anita and her husband John Pardo of Norwich, four grandchildren,
eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces
and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery,
Norwich. There are no calling hours. The Gagne-Piechowski Funeral Home 490
Voluntown Rd. Rt. 138 Jewett City is in charge of arrangements.
