Hi Everyone,
Well ! What a fine mess we ( most of us ) live in-
and love it !!!!
As time went by - I realized my computer desk was
way to small * and I needed file cabinets. My son had a
grand idea.
MY DESK :
Is made up of - a door - ( yup * the kind you go
in and out of )
and ( 2 ) - 2 drawer filing cabinet's .
First we painted the door dark green ( my favorite color )
Then we laid it on top of the 2 files cabinets- which are also
painted green. Desk is butted up to the wall - the length is about
7 feet- on top of door- he put a full strip of Plexiglas - Da Da * !!
A desk for a genealogist *
Sitting on desk - is my pc -and key pad- the tower is under the desk
on my right- up front so I can run cd's etc. ( Handy ) Under my desk
are the boxes with material gathered on each family. I do 6 families
these are my " collection areas " LOL:)) photo's and the like. Then my
file cabinets are full of research on each family. The family I'am
working
on to get binder done- all their files are in 2 small file boxes I
bought.
They sit on my right on floor.
On top of desk - I have and in and out mail box-
printer- junk box > paper clips etc. Slim line file
container made of plastic- I small 3 drawer stacker -
a 3 tier file holder made of mesh . A area to my right
of key pad for coffee and etc. Piece of cork board
( in case of a spill )
Containers of markers & pens etc. A desk clock - !
Alas the scanner had to go over on my son's side- *
On the wall in front of desk- are some my family pictures -
drawings- one small cork pin up- a few large pictures
of my home town, and one from Vermont. Also my
( Lauzon certificate of Heritage ) Framed photo's of
Vermont my son has done. Etc. It is very interesting indeed.
This area has become my retreat- not to rest- but to work.
Then of coarse on my left are the piles of paper etc.
NOW * I have to admit I have moved the binders completed
and working on - into my bedroom closet- arranged on shelf in a
row- LOL:)) no place is to sacred as to not have genealogy
material in it.
What we all need is a room " 12 feet by 12 feet " then we would
( I'am sure ) fill it up in no time- but at least we could roll
our chairs out ! Well, I'am waiting to win the mega bucks-
and get a new house ! LOL:)))
It has been great hearing everyone's wow's on the mess and
the best of it all _ !!! " We are all the same "
Messy but dedicated ^
Shredder ? Eeeeee * I can not tear things up- *
Gezzz that one scared me- !!! I'am a genealogist -
but also a horder * much to my families dismay . :))
Thanks every one- now I can prove to my family
" I have not lost it ! "
Mary
