Aurele Boivin
SANFORD — Aurele J. Boivin, 78, died at home Friday.

He was born March 25, 1924 in Sanford, a son of Aurelien and Roseanna Boivin,
and graduated from Sanford High School.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943 and was trained as an Advanced
Radar Operator, serving until 1947.

Upon discharge, he joined the U.S. Post Office and rose to become Sanford’s
Assistant Postmaster in 1964. He retired in 1980.

He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled
American Veterans.

His brother, Maurice J., M.D., died previously.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Rita Charette Boivin; two daughters,
Karen (Mrs. John) Ferris and Carol (Mrs. Bernie) Sylvain, both of Sanford; a
brother, Robert, M.D. of Belleville, Ill.; a sister, Lucille (Mrs. Raymond)
Kelley of Old Saybrook, Conn.; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
