Good morning,
I want to thank everyone who has responded to me on the list and privately
re: my request for a reference for the Deux Montagnes area. Several people
questioned as to whether I had been in contact with Rene Brazeau. I have,
for over 2 years, and incredibly, my Joseph and Appoline used to be listed
on Rene's homepage as one of his own brickwalls. At that time, Rene had a
database of over 25,000 Brazeaus. Rene referred me to someone else who had a
database of over 75,000 - but not my Joseph. Rene and I touch base
frequently and update each other with any additions or corrections that we
find.
The 1881 Census info is very interesting - Thank you, Linnie. Interesting in
that there is a Lalande meme in the household. Although several people are
sure that Lalande is not a Brazeau dit name, could she still possibly be "J
Bte"'s mother? However, I believe that my Joseph and Appoline were married
abt. 1850. I have this for their known children:
Brazeau, Charles - b. abt 1855
Brazeau, Elzear - b. abt 1856, Rimouski, QC
Brazeau, Valerie - b. abt 1862 - Rutland, VT
Brazeau, Helen - b. unknown
Brazeau, Francis - b. unknown
The individuals in the census below would have the following birthdates -
J. Bte - abt 1836
Appoline - abt 1837
Joseph - abt 1865
Palmire - abt 1872
Alderic - abt 1874
Wilfrid - abt 1875
Marie - abt 1877
Parmelie - abt 1879
This couple would have been 13/14 years old in 1850 when my Joseph/Appoline
were supposedly married. Young - but it could have happened. My couple's 1st
baby was born 5 years into their "abt 1850" marriage with all 5 of their
children probably born before J. Bte/Appoline's 1st son, Joseph, was born in
1865. Or - could all of these children belong to the same couple and the
older ones have already left home before the 1881 census? An elderly
great-aunt with a fabulous memory has no memory of any of these younger
children. Also, a cousin and fellow researcher - Chris Pinette - has none of
these children either.
Well, as I'm a night shift nursing supervisor - worked last night and am
back in tonight - I'm going to catch up on my beauty sleep and check in
later.
Many thanks again - Valerie
