Paul J. Rivard Sr.

PELHAM, N.H. - Paul J. Rivard Sr., 81, of Pelham, a World War II veteran who
helped manage a Dracut supermarket for many years, died Friday morning, Nov.
8, at New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton after a long illness. He was the
husband of Pearl (Lafontaine) (Boucher) Rivard.
He was born in Nashua on Oct. 24, 1921, the son of the late Gerard and Anna
(Gervais) Rivard. He attended Westford and Chelmsford schools.
Mr. Rivard served in the Navy during World War II as a seaman first class
aboard the U.S.S. Alabama.
Before his retirement in 1984, Mr. Rivard was the manager of the frozen food
department at Alexander's Supermarket in Dracut for 17 years.
He was a member of the Pelham Fish and Game Club and the American Legion in
Tilton. He was also a member of St. Patrick Church in Pelham.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and her husband, Judith and
Craig Lewis of Pelham; four sons and their wives, Paul Rivard Jr. and Terry
Rivard of Pelham, Donald and Lynda Rivard of Douglas, Mass., Dennis and
Noella Rivard of Pepperell, and Brian and Sheila Rivard, residing on Plum
Island in Newburyport, Mass; two stepsons, Roger Boucher Jr. and Kevin
Boucher; nine grandchildren, Dennis Rivard Jr. and his wife Jennifer,
Jennifer Douglas and her husband Greg, Kelly Rivard, Chris and her husband
Hunter Rogers, Jason Rivard, Joseph and Jason Lewis, and Alex and Tashia
Rivard; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjory Hausler, residing in
Arizona; a brother and his wife, Gerald and Josephine Rivard of Rochester,
N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also husband of Irene (O'Brien) Rivard, who died in 1984.
