When I was a young girl the family always said that the name used to be CHOINIERE
so I check around and that is what I came up with
It was also said that we had cousins in MASS and this info goes with what i found on some MASS Sweeney's in the line on IGNACE CHOINIERE SWEENEY

Hi Cindy,
Not a "dit" name but a bastardization of the name Choiniere by non French
ears!
