Subject: [Q-R] Oldest in America?
Date: Tue, 16 Apr 2002 07:33:34 -0700
Hi List,
I read that Sault Ste-Marie in Michigan is the oldest city in Michigan
and 3rd oldest in the USA. Does anyone know if that means oldest
"settlement"... I believe Father Jacques Marquette built a mission there
in 1668 but surely there were other settlements along the east coast.
Is Sault Ste-Marie the 3rd oldest settlement in the USA? Anyone know
where a list of "oldest" settlements or cities can be found?
Thanks,
Joe.. in Calif
