As your question is so general, I can offer only a general
response.

First, I would check the Archives of the Quebec-Research List at
Rootsweb to see if any surname information could be available to
you.

Then, I would search at < google > for the < name + genealogy >
to try to develop genealogical information.

My next effort would be to see if any library near to your
location maintains a copy of the Tanguay or the Jetté efforts
for earlier information and hints.

However, keep in mind that probably the Marleau surname is a later
variation probably of the original Merlot surname.

My next thought is that both names are quite common in the
Ste-Geneviève-de-Pierrefonds parish by your time period. The
marriages of this parish have been booked and should be available
in various methods.

Remember your question is that general that you could be asking
about hundreds of marriages.

Beyond that, I might suggest the LDS filmings of the parish
registers of Ste-Geneviève-de-Pierrefonds. The church registers
would lead to numerous listings of baptisms, marriages and burials
in each year. The LDS also has, and at some of their libraries as
a permanent possession, the films of the pages of the Tanguay
book.

Certainly, others may offer other suggestions to you but perhaps
your question could be answered better with more exact
questioning.
