Hi Elaine

Thanks for the info. I have already screened the films you mention and
gotten all the info out of them re: the Larondes. The ones you mention are
my direct relations, the ones whom I am researching. I am attempting to go
back further than Toussaint and Marie with little success, espeially with
Marie's surname, which is native-Canadien. Have found a possibility but so
far cannot prove it. The Elisabeth shown is in fact the Isabelle that
married my Francois-Xavier Gaudet/Gaudette in the Allumette Island area
around 1844. she was known as either Elisabeth, Isabelle or Gabrielle,
depending on what record you look at. Like I said, no name was given for
Toussaints wife Marie, however, in her baptism record (when she was 52 yrs
of age) just before the revalidation of their marriage she was described as
'le savauge of Allumette Island' Such a title brings me to the conclusion
that she was pure blooded Algonquin or the like.
Will continue to search (and enjoy every minute of it) for the true history
of my family.
Thanks again for the info ( and for the well done cem. book for St-Alphonse)
and will look forward to gabbing in the future.

P.S Wouldn't mind a copy of the translation your doing if you dont mind????

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the lookup for Carol which is not too encouraging I'm afraid
:-( I'm wondering if you've looked at film 1703968 - Diocese of
Pembroke -- Temiskaming/Abitibi? The film is in two parts, the first being
registrations from 1836 - 1838 of which I have the index. The second part is
1838 - 1842 which isn't indexed but I found some of my extended family in
it. There's also a write-up in french by Jos. H. Martin of the history of
the missions which I'm in the process of typing for translation. The online
translators don't do a great job but I'm getting the gist of it.

As you might expect there are numerous native baptisms, etc. but there are
also French and British. Of the Larondes there are: Eustache, Louis and Paul
page 21; Marie Elizabeth page 77 also Toussaint Laronde and Marie Laronde
page 77; Charles Laronde page 85. I don't see any Gaudettes. I'm sorry I
can't tell you about the second half of the film but I know there are
recordings for many people from Lapasse like Cyrille Gervais and Veronique
Sabourin.

Hope this helps,

Elaine
