In case you missed it, at the site Alice sent below, is an early, early french map, and it appears that Outaouacs area that has
been discussed on this list is shown.... in the upper pennisula of what is now Upper Michigan. To the west is Outaouacs Lake
(Lac de Outaouacs) The site says this about the english version of the map: Detail from "A Map of Louisiana and of the River
Mississippi" which appears to be from approx. 1710-20. Publication details presently unknown. Map obtained from an estate auction
in tattered condition. Of the french version it says: Detail from "Carte de la Louisiane et du Cours du Mississippi"
