It also seems that Simon's birth and baptism were inscribed in the parish
register at Beaubassin. Beaubassin was a town in Acadie, now in New
Brunswick.
The patient register for l'Hotel-Dieu de Quebec, between 1694 and 1696,
includes several references to a Simon Morin, of about the right age, who
seems to be a domestic servant and a frequent visitor to the hospital. One
of his companions on the sick list is Antoine Danou Brindamour, a soldier in
the Company of Monsieur de la Valliere. But at that late date in the history
of relationships between the Morin family of Beaubassin and the family of
Michel Leneuf de la Valliere, former Governor of L'Acadie, any association
between the two is probably a coincidence.
