l'Hotel-Dieu
Montreal's first hospital, l'Hotel-Dieu, the first structure built
outside the palisades of Ville-Marie, was opened in 1644 by Jean Mance.
The Museum of the Hospitalieres de l'Hotel-Dieu (201 des Pins Avenue
West) displays period medicines, furniture, utensils, paintings, reliquaries
and archives pertaining to the early days of the colony showing daily life in
