Hello,

I am looking for information on my gg grandfather, Lewis Ash(e), probably
born Louis Dufresne in St.Hyacinthe, Quebec between 1829 and 1834. His
tombstone states he was 59 when he died in 1890, but I believe he may have
been older. I have seen four different ages on four different records for
this man. His parents were supposedly Lewis Ash(e) (Louis Dufresne) and Rosa
Briggs (possibly Catherine). They changed their name to Ash when they came
to Vermont. How can I find his birth record in St.Hyacinthe, and his parents
marriage record? I am interested in the names of siblings also. I have
checked the Rivard website before and again recently, but I have not made a
connection. I believe they arrived in Vermont around 1846/47 since their
next to the youngest child was three in 1850 and the first born in VT, so I
assume that is when they arrived there. I believe some family stayed in the
Champlain Valley towns in Vermont and some moved to NH. My gg grandfather
went to Vermont, then to New Hampshire, and then back to Vermont.

Thanks for any information.
