The LDS library has fimed most - if not all - of the Quebec church
records which are excellent sources of information. In that time period
baptismal records were the equivalent of birth records. These film numbers
can be found on the LDS website at <familysearch.org>
As to the census, first you must identify which Ste. Genevieve parish you are
looking for. There are several. The LDS probably has censuses filmed also. Or
you can order films to your local library on inter-library loan from the
National Archives of Canada NAC). Censuses before 1851 are head of households
only.The NAC film numbers are
Ste Genevieve in Montreal 1851 (C-1129)
" de Bastican CHAMPLAIN 1842 (C-727), 1851 (C-1119)
" JACQUES-CARTIER (no census until 1861)
