Subject: Beauharnois surnames Kilgour & Wilson

Hi all,

Thanks Ken, for starting this list!

The main surnames I'm researching are KILGOUR and WILSON. The Kilgours
owned Kilgour Furniture in Beauharnois. I've found *most* of the Kilgour
descendants over the years, but still have a few missing branches.

My biggest roadblock is with the WILSONs. They were members of St. Edward's
Presbyterian church in Beauharnois and most are buried there. I've been to
St. Edward's church and have gone through the records and the cemetery.

Related surnames in the Wilson tree are:
ORR
McINTOSH
SCORER
BATH
DUNCAN
COMBS

A few clues I've stumbled on:

Martha DUNCAN (1817-1879), wife of John WILSON, died in Huntington at the
house of Peter C. MOIR - husband of Mary Henry DUNCAN.

Two childen of Frank WILSON (1887-1950) and Margaret BATH supposedly moved
from Beauharnois to the Toronto/Oakville area - no idea what decade.

Is anybody related, directly or indirectly to these Wilsons? The Wilsons
were from Lochwinnoch, Renfrewshire, Scotland and immigrated to Beauharnois
in the 1830s. The Kilgours were from South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland, and
immigrated around the same time. My ggg grandparents are William Kilgour
and Ann Wilson who married in Beauharnois in 1836.
