Kay,

I've not seen the name Delphina before, but the Dixon could indicate
she was named for John Doan's first wife's family. I am showing three
children for John & Ruth (Dixon) Doan before she died: Joseph, Jacob
& Hannah.

My husband's line of descent is from Elizabeth Pike Stuart Doan's
first marriage, to Alexander Stuart. Two of their children, Abigail &
John, married two Dixon siblings, children of Simon and Elizabeth
(Allen) Dixon. Abigail Stuart (1762-1843) married Thomas Dixon
(1753-1824) and John Stuart (1754-1856) married Elizabeth Dixon
(1771-1807).
