Hi, today my 19 year old daughter is moving into her first apartment, so my
answer will be brief. I will fill in the blanks, if I have any, later. Emily
Swain married William Kirkman, and lived in close proximity to the Northam
families for many years. Her husband was active in much of the Northams
legal doings: land purchases and sales, wills etc. She raised a large
family, and, on 29 Mar 1879, in Guilford Co NC she married John Northam, the
uncle of her sister's husband, Thomas Northam. She is listed as 'widow' on
John's estate papers. He died 27 June 1893 in Guilford Co NC. Hope this
