Is it a tradition among Quakers to use the mother's maiden name as the
middle name of the first born son?
My GGrandfather, William Allen Stubbs, was the son of Sylvanus Stubbs and
Nancy Allen.
My GGGrandfather, Joseph Harvey Stubbs, was the son of Joseph Stubbs (?) and
a Harvey (whose first name I forget right now).
I have seen this elsewhere, but it seems very prevalent among my Quaker
ancestors.
