Hi Shirley
You are so right, the Sisson's, Tripp's, etc were Quakers in RI and John
Sisson and wife Rebecca Lawton, and their son John married Sybil
Huddleston which is my line of research. I have some descendants then of
John and Sybil's son George (b. 1 Dec 1753.
There is a Sisson book in the Los Angeles Downtown Lib Genealogy Room,
but I think it is also available on loan from Boston if your a
subscriber to the New England Historical and Genealogical Soc. Register.
I have some pages copied and there are links to the Cornell's, Tripps,
and all the other major families in the Newport RI area. There are some
20 or more volumes of RI records that cover some of this family, but not
enough to go out of your way to search. The Sisson book done in the late
1800's has so much more. Let me know what you have so far and I'll look
and see if it connects with what little bit I have, I now live about 80
miles from the LA Lib and haven't been there in years, but their
collection is fantastic, and I got so much data from their collection of
books. So many of those families ended up in Calif in the late 1800's
and I guess those who migrated out here thought our library should have
these books.
