Thanks so much for your offer to help with my Sprague research. I'm
aware that Ebenezer and his sister, Susanna (mar. Jacob Eddy), both
settled in Erie Co., NY. By the way, two other sisters, Sarah (mar.
Thomas Clark) and Martha (mar. Samuel Staples) both asked "to come under
friend's care" according to Danby MM (LDS Film #0017407).

I'm descended from their brother, Jonathan, b. 1742 who married Rebecca
Unknown. My only reference for her is a land deed recorded in Danby in
1784 (I don't have the exact deed date at my desk). I'm hoping that
some of the more "settled" Spragues might have recorded family
information for Jonathan. Research has led me to believe Jonathan would
not have followed the Quaker teachings, but perhaps his wife Rebecca
would have.

Probably the New York Holland Purchase (1804?) was too late to find
Jonathan in Erie Co., NY. In 1790 (NY census) he was in Saratoga, NY.
The census and tax records show him and sons Ezra and John in Erie
Co./Crawford Co., PA in 1800-1803; in Geauga Co., OH in 1806 and Huron
Co., OH 1812 til his death in 1823/24. At some point he married an
Elizabeth, but I think that was late in life.

Do the western New York Quaker records make any mention of Jonathan's
known children (I'm sure he had more); namely, Jonathan, Jr., b. ca
1782, who lived near his father until his father's death, Martha, b.
1785?, and Ezra who married Lois, not to be confused with the Ezra who
married Harriet in Huron Co., OH. Although the 1940 typewritten
supplement mentions Martha marrying Stephen Crippen in Cayuga, NY, I can
find no record.

By the way, we visited St. Lawrence Church in Upwey, England, burial
site for Edward Sprague, father of the immigrants. It's just as
pictured in the Sprague genealogies.
