Subject: David Quaid c.1804-1884.

Seeking information on the above man and his family, and possible contact with
descendants.
David Quaid was born c. 1804 in Rathkeale, Limerick, Ire. In 1823 he enlisted in the 1st Btn Rifle Bde,
British Army at Rathkeale. By 1832 he was in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he married Jane Christie, also
born in Ireland.
Two daughters were born in Nova Scotia, Mary Ann 1833 and Elizabeth in 1836, dying at four months.
A son James was born in Woolwich, Mdx in 1938.
In 1846 David Quaid was discharged to pension at Fort Pitt, Chatham,Kent. He was still there by the 1851
census, at the General Military Hospital as an assistant Ward Master.
David and his wife and daughter Mary Ann were at the same address in 1860 when his daughter married
John Thomas Inchley, a member of the Army Hospital Corp.
By the 1871 census, David is living with his wife, daughter Mary Ann, and new son-in-law Edmund Hone,
and three grandchildren, Edmund, Jane and Elizabeth Hone, as the head of household at Netley Abbey,
[near Southampton] Hampshire.
David Quaid died in 1884, his wife Jane in 1874, Edmund Hone in 1876 and Mary Ann in 1891, all are
buried at the Military Cemetery in the grounds of the former Royal Victoria Military Hospital, Netley.
David & Jane were my gr-grandparents.
