Hi Odile:
..Who will tell us????

My friend heard about the contracting out to the US for input into the
computer system of our 2006 census. I believe the radio station was CBC.
Also discussed during the census taking time that many were deliberately
waiting until the last possible moment in protest and many more were
waiting until the "first followup letter" before sending off their return.

Apparently Canadian firms are entering into many contracts with "off shore"
companines because the labour is cheaper. These are rumoured to be for
typing the billing information! Those not entered yet some feel will in the
near future for financial issues.. companies like telephone? I just overheard
from friends discussing the threat last year of being let go if the company
hired "off shore".
All these things are affecting how people feel about having info out there
and affecting the future of the genealogical searches.

June
