Dorothy.
The provincial figures, such as they are, are available on the Statistics Canada website at
http://www12.statcan.ca/english/census06/reference/info/gen_results.cfm
I am afraid that I cannot agree that a 56 % YES response is a good showing. It is not a 'majority rule' situation that would see all records released because of a simple majority vote. For the 44 % of Canadians that will not be found by researchers in the future, the 2006 (and future Censuses) has been destroyed as a complete and viable tool for genealogical and historical research.

56% is good news - albeit a close call. Yes, Muriel, I would be interested in the provincial figures.

Many thanks, Dorothy
The news is that about 56% answered YES and if you wish
provincial figures I will forward them - YES and the other
column is not broken down to NO and BLANK.
There is also an address where one might request a form
to change a NO or BLANK to a YES.
I do not expect to be basking in the sun in 2098 but a lunch
with two grandchildren -- subject CENSUS -- I know they
are interested.
Should anyone desire the address, let me know.

For Muriel:
Some of the statistics for the 2006 census have just been released i.e.
population of the provinces and territories. There was a question on the
2006 census which read:
"Does this person agree to make his/her 2006 Census information available
for public release in 2098 (92 years after the census)?"
Yes
No
I haven't seen the results of the petition that was widely circulated for
the purpose of answering 'Yes' to this question.
Any news on this yet? Actually, this concerns only those people who will be
living in 2098 - we won't be here but our descendants will. The UK and I
think Australia also have/had petitions circulating regarding this question.
