Hi Linda,
It is interesting that you should have a URE connection and also one with
Montreal as I have both as well. My roots are from Montreal where I grew up
and I have a family named URE in my family tree in Scotland.

James CARSWELL, Wright and Builder (died at age 85 in 1854) in Glasgow (and
I can go back several generations with the Carswells too). He was married to
Barbara GLASGOW and they had 11 children. The last, Alexander Glasgow
CARSWELL (named after his mother's father and an infant brother who died
earlier), was a shipping agent. He died in 1859. He was married to Elise
BANDMAN (see LDS for her genealogy). They had 8 children. The 4th child,
Auguste Mary CARSWELL married William Campbell URE, coal merchant. They had
5 children, Janet, William, Alexander, Leonard G. and Helen. These children
would be of my grandfather's generation. He was born in 1885. I suspect they
would all be somewhere in Scotland at that point. However, as it is an
offshoot of my family line, and somewhat distant at that, I have not
researched that particular line any further.

Probably a longshot but always worth a try!
