I have this statement taken from Jette:

Parents are Vital CARON and Marie PERTHUIS, one child is: Angelique n et b 17-02-1706 Lachine; ENFANT NATUREL (pere: Jean-Babtiste GIRARD, file de Leon & Clemence BEAUNE): Marie-Jeanne n et b 15-10-1723 LACHINE.

I know what the words are in English, but I am not clear on the meaning of the statement. Does this mean that Vital and Marie adopted this child whose father was Jean Bapiste and mother was Marie-Jeanne? and who is Marie-Jeanne?

I have one translation that states that Marie means marries. How confusing.

Does it mean that Marie had this child that was fathered by Jean Baptiste.

Would appreciate any help I can get. Any opinions anyone?
