Wanda, Thanks for the welcome. I am a descendant of Lt. Francis Ross, b.
about 1745 and d. 1824 in Cabarrus Co., N.C.(formerly Mecklenburg Co., N.C.).
He was born in N. Ireland and married Esther Carruthers/Carothers. She was
the daughter of Hugh Carruthers and wife Sarah Purviance. Francis and Esther
had six sons and one daughter: Joseph, James, Francis, Hugh, Robert, John,
and Jane. I am a descendant of James Ross and his wife Anna Woods Montgomery.
Most of my family lives in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., N.C. I moved to my
wife's home county (Union Co, N.C.) 10 years ago. We have 5 sons from ages 31
to 14, and one grandaughter. I have looked at the Purviance genealogy lines
on the Internet and have found Hugh Carruthers. Apparently, the Purviances
ancestry can be traced back to France. Thanks again, Sincerely, Tom Ross
