I John, I think that the Beulah Preston whom you are referring to
might well be the daughter of Mahlon Preston b. 1781 and Amy
Coates b. 1785. According to my information, they were married
20 Nov 1805. They had five children that I know of, one of them
being Beulah Preston. I don't have any dates for her but I do
know that her brother William Preston 1811-1886 was at one time
City Treasurer of Wilmington, Delaware and served as Quarter
Master at Fort Delaware during the Civil War.
If I am correct, she is my first cousin four times removed, through
both my Preston line and my Coates line.
I have a copy of the History of Delaware, vol. II, by Scharf, 1888.
It is not very well indexed but I see there is a reference to:
Thomas, Dr. Wm. W. page 502.
The problem is that page is in volume I. I would be very interested
to learn more about this family, if you have any additional information.
