Hello all,
In looking to find any information on the recent query about a Pontius girl in Buffalo Township marrying a John Thompson, I uncovered some old notes about "other" Pontius families in ther Berks Co, Pa area. I am wondering if any Pontius researchers have traced these family lines?-
What my notes show (and they are old, taken from Bridge Builder, July 1977, p. 6-8, if anyone can correct them, please do) is that a Marc, David, Andreas, and Johann Phillip Pontius arrived in Philadelphia on 3 Oct 1768.
Marc - my notes say that he had an adoptive daughter only. For Andreas and Johann Phillip Pontius - I have no family. David, however, did have at least these children: Anna Maria, b. 1784; Frederick, Salome, and maybe an Abraham. According to his will there were some 8 children. David is supposed to have died in 1814 in Tulpehocken Twp, Berks Co., Pa.
Does anyone know anything further about these apparently non-Johannes or Nicholas descended Pontius families? And did any of those who were in Berks County have a daughter that married a Thompson.? Do they have any living descendents? Maybe I've not been a member of the Pontius Assoc for so long that I've missed staying updated on the family.
Thanks,
Susan Pontius Sauve
