I am not sure of the official date for the change from Frankford Road to Frankford Avenue but cartographic evidence suggests it changed between 1865 and 1875.
It is Frankford Road on the 1865 Barnes .
It is Frankford Avenue on the 1895 Baist & Bromley maps, also on the 1887 Bromley (index plate) , 1887 Hopkins Plate 1 , 1877 Hopkins Page 8 and 1875 Hopkins Plate P .
The Historic Street Name Index is vague, see http://www.phillyhistory.org/HistoricStreets/default.aspx
You might want to search for clues in Samuel F. Hotchkins’ poorly organized “The Bristol Pike” (1893) which covers various stories, estates and turnpike companies (i.e. Frankford and Bristol Turnpike Company, Bustleton Turnpike Road, etc.). See Google Books, http://books.google.com/books?id=_Xg_AAAAYAAJ&pg=PA231&dq=bristol+pike,+hopkins&hl=en&ei=iI_tTLiCCsXflgforPz8AQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCYQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=frankford%20road&f=false
