Subject: [Phly-Rts] Shipping record John Ward

Hello Listers,
I have been unable to locate the arrival from England of my Gt.Grandfather John WARD in Philadelphia, although I have the record of his family arriving on 19 August 1858 on the ss."City of Washington" into the Port of New York as follows:
Emma Ward aged 27; Mary Ann, 6; Clara, 3; Thaline, 4mths. John Ward was a Knitter aged 28 at the time. Judging by the age of Thaline, he must have still been in England in July 1857, and his next child, Sylvannia, was born in Philadelphia in April 1859, 9 months after the arrival of Emma, so he was obviously in Philadelphia to meet his family on their arrival in August 1858. That defines his arrival time to between July 1857 and August 1858. The entries for John Ward that I found on Ancestry.com did not appear to match up. I would really appreciate any suggestions as to where I might find this record. The whole family is listed in the 1860 Census.
Many thanks for any help.
Jan.
