Subject: 1895/1900 timeframe: divorce/annulment question
Date: Tue, 2 May 2006 16:50:13 -0400
My brick wall is beginning to come down, but it's slow going on this one. I
have an ancestor whose marriage I've now confirmed, who is listed in the
directories in the time frame of 1887 - 1894. He seems to just disappear
after 1894, his wife is listed as married in the 1900 census but widowed in
1910. I have not found him in Philly, but I find someone with the same
name, age, birth place in another state married. One possibility that
hadn't occurred to me before is divorce or annulment. Would there be a
record if this was the case? If so, where would I look? Also, for a
husband who seems to simply disappear in this time frame, where would you
look and what other possibilities should be entertained?
