That's the name of the newspaper - The Record. I'm not sure if the official title was the Philadelphia Record or just the Record. It went under in the 1940s.

I'm curious. Was this the only newspaper to which the funeral home submitted a death notice? Or were there others listed, also? Generally, most people look at the Inquirer, Bulletin or Public Ledger depending on the year of death. However, in my family research, I've found death notices that were only published in the Record. I imagine the reason was family preference. However, it hammered home a point to me. Check all the available newspapers of the time. An early genealogical lesson, I never forgot.
