Dan, if you like to read non-fiction and history written by an award winning author, I think you would enjoy "Desire of the everlasting Hills"...subtitled, "The World Before and After Jesus", The information on the back of the book,(and it's out in paperback now) says: ".....to bring figures of the past in a rounded, full-bodied way, Cahill shows Jesus from what the world was like before his birth, to his birth time and to his execution through the eyes of those who knew him and in the context of his time.....Cahill's most compelling historical narrative yet." He has also authored "How the Irish Saved Civilization" (I love that title!), and "The Gifts of the Jews.". These books are part of his volumes entitled The Hinges of History.
